Dental Treatment in China for International Patients

China's university dental hospitals place implants, crowns and orthodontic work using the same international implant brands as Western clinics, typically at a fraction of US, UK or Australian prices. Most implant cases take two trips, and the hospitals do not provide interpreters — plan for both.

What international patients come for

  • Dental implants — single, multiple, or full-arch (all-on-4 / all-on-6)
  • Crowns, bridges and full-mouth rehabilitation
  • Adult orthodontics, including clear aligners
  • Oral and maxillofacial surgery

The larger the treatment, the more clearly the saving covers the travel. For a single straightforward implant, the flight cost decides whether the trip makes sense.

How a dental trip works with China MedPass

  1. 1Send what you have: dental X-rays or a CBCT scan (the original files if possible), your dentist's notes and what you want done — in their original language. We translate.
  2. 2We suggest the hospital and department, and tell you whether the work realistically fits one trip or needs two.
  3. 3We book through the hospital's official real-name system with your passport details. Slots cannot be held, so booking follows payment.
  4. 4At the hospital we interpret at every appointment — public hospitals do not provide interpreters.
  5. 5You leave with an English treatment summary: what was done, the implant system used and what follow-up is needed at home.

Booking and interpretation points reflect our coordination experience at public hospitals (September 2026).

Dental treatment in China: FAQ

How much does a dental implant cost in China?

In our published guide, a single implant with abutment and crown commonly costs about US$800–3,000 depending on the brand and the hospital, compared with about US$3,000–6,000 in the US. The hospital's quote after your CBCT scan is the price that counts.

Why is it cheaper?

China's national volume-based procurement reform capped public-hospital implant service fees at about ¥4,500 and cut implant material prices sharply. The implant brands used are the same international brands used in the West.

How many trips will I need?

Usually two for implants: the implant is placed first, and the permanent crown is fitted after the bone has healed around it, often several months later. Crowns, fillings and some orthodontic starts can fit one trip. We tell you after reviewing your scans.

Public dental hospital or private clinic?

Public university dental hospitals offer the most transparent pricing and deep expertise for implants and complex work. For purely cosmetic work, a private clinic may be more flexible. We explain the trade-off for your case.

Do the dental hospitals speak English?

Public hospitals do not provide interpreters, including their international departments. China MedPass interprets at every appointment.

What about follow-up at home?

Ask your home dentist before you travel whether they will maintain work done abroad. Your English treatment summary records the implant system and what was done, which is what they will need.
